AnHarga: the basket, measured by the people carrying it
A crowd-photographed, receipt-verified national price index for Malaysia's cost-of-living ministry — region-by-region basket costs, week-by-week control reads, and enforcement you can aim. One ministry signs; nothing joins.
Nobody knows today’s chicken price. Four million shoppers do.
Official price monitoring samples the outlets an officer visits, on the week an officer visits. AnHarga turns ordinary shopping into a verified national basket — and gives KPDN the one thing enforcement never had: density.
- KPDN · enforcement triage
- Policy & BPH companion
- Targeted aid design
Ten seconds per shop. A national truth per week.
Photograph the price
Shoppers photograph shelf tags and receipts at the pasar, the kedai and the grocer — ten seconds, geotagged, item auto-recognised. Contributors see the index they build; they are never paid in silence.
Receipt-verified, floor-guarded
A photo is a sighting; a receipt is proof. Reports resolve against the merchant-side signal (AnKedai's consented aggregate feed) and only cohorts of thousands surface — item, place, week, price band. No person, no store profile, ever.
The ministry sees the basket
KPDN gets the region-by-region basket cost, week over week: where rice, chicken, oil and vegetables genuinely move, which controls bind, where an inspection is worth the trip. The public view ships as an open dashboard — transparency is the retention mechanic.
One index, four uses
Every consumer of the index is the same signatory — KPDN — wearing a different hat. That is what keeps the deal signable.
KPDN · enforcement triage
Directed price monitoring, anti-profiteering leads (Act 723) and control-effectiveness readouts on one instance, signed alone.
Policy & BPH companion
A high-frequency crowd signal beside the official CPI — regional granularity the establishment survey cannot economically reach.
Targeted aid design
Cost-of-living hotspots measured, not guessed: where Sumbangan Asas Rahmah dollars actually stretch furthest district by district.
Public price radar
Open dashboards so a shopper can see the fair band for tomorrow's chicken before leaving the house — the consumer side of the same instance.
The doctrine made product
One ministry, one instance
AnHarga signs with KPDN alone. Finance, Agriculture and every other agency get nothing from this deployment — the ministry-fiefdom doctrine as product design, not diplomacy.
Aggregates, never people or shops
Contributors are invisible by construction; individual outlets appear only inside floored cohorts. Merchant-side supply is consented, opt-in, and revocable per store.
Index, not accusation
The product publishes bands and movements. Enforcement decisions remain the ministry's, on evidence the ministry gathers — AnHarga points, it never convicts.
Questions, answered
Existing monitoring is officer-published, periodic and outlet-selected — it measures where officials go, when they go. AnHarga adds a crowd layer: every shopper becomes a sensor, every receipt a verified observation, the whole country covered weekly. The ministry keeps its authority; it gains aim.
