Introducing AnKedai: the kedai ledger that posts itself

Seven thousand kedai runcit and a million micro-businesses run on memory, a notebook and a calculator. AnKedai is our merchant superapp: a free ledger that posts itself from a photo of the supplier invoice or a spoken sentence, with queue-busting, a surplus board and DuitNow-grade acceptance — and LHDN e-invoicing as an export button, not a reason to hire an accountant.

The notebook is the real competitor

Every POS system in the market is pitching the kedai owner a second job: key in every sale, reconcile every night, learn a new vocabulary. The owner already has the job — restocking, frying, extending kredit to the right faces. Our design target was not a better POS; it was a ledger that costs zero typing. A photo of the supplier invoice posts stock-in. A sentence — "tiga teh tarik, empat ringgit lima" — posts a sale. The model proposes, the ledger accepts, and every entry shows the evidence behind it.

An unseen ledger is an unused ledger. So the daily loop is the owner's own money: what came in, what went out, whose kredit is overdue this week, what to restock before the morning rush. The e-invoice export is where LHDN's mandate — which already covers the overwhelming majority of these businesses only through their larger suppliers today — becomes one button instead of a consulting engagement.

The consented feed, and what it becomes

The ledger is the merchant's. Never ours, never a marketplace's. What the merchant may opt into is a one-way aggregate feed — item, place, week, band — with floors that make a single kedai unidentifiable by construction, not by policy. That feed is the ground truth behind AnHarga, the price index we are designing with the cost-of-living agency. The same consent discipline we ship in AnKampung's gatehouse, applied to the counter: data leaves only through a door the owner opened, and never in a shape that names them.

“We are not digitising the kedai for the platforms. We are giving the kedai its own books — and letting it sell the view, never the details.”
